On Top of the Aloha Beat BLOG

Talk about a popular blog - 500 comments in one day?

Wow! Talk about community. I just saw an AR post about David Pogue's tech tips for computer users. CHECK IT OUT
David's got around 500 comments in one day, many of them tech tips on their own, that are quite valuable whether you are a novice or a veteran computer user. I'll just bet that you can find something new to learn there.

I've been using computers since 1980 and I learned some stuff too. Thanks to AR for the great references the users here provide all of us.

Ronnie,

The Ted spread got worse today after the $700 billion flush was passed:

That's awesome.  It's amazing how some posts get so many comments.

Brad - what exactly does that mean?
Jon - when you post information of value and build your community, you get a lot of comments. I'm working towards that myself.

Actually, he had 358 that day and 420 at the end of the first 24-hour period. Notwithstanding that, you can find virtually the same thing here at Active Rain. As with Dave Pogue, the longer you've been around exhibiting your expertise, the more people follow you.

There are people playing in the Rain here who joined in 2006 and early 2007. They've had time to build a fan base (those who subscribe to their blogs), and as soon as they post anything, there's 50 comments within minutes.

When I reach 200,000 points or so with a few hundred subscribers, I want to just post a blog entry that says, "Just wanted to say hello." and see how many comments it get. I'll bet right now that it would get at leat 50 comments by the end of the first 24 hours, all because people wouldn't have much to read and could comment very quickly to get those 25 points. LOL

wow 500 comments. I am sure he was not expecting that. I am going to read it now for myself.

Russell - good point. It's nice and certainly productive points wise to have AR friends. How is the San Diego market these days. Still going down?
Sharon - I bet you'll find some things new there.

Aloha Ronnie,

Thanks for posting the link, I think the valuable information listed is what made this particular post. The NY Times has an enormous, well educated, tech savvy readership, that combined with the topic is a recipe for success.

Peace,

OK, I can see why that got so many comments. I learned a lot looking at the original post and all the comments. I didn't know about the Window + D = Desktop, that just changed my start menu keys in the corner.
